Big Wave Tanto
The spirit of Tomoe in T10 steel
The Great Wave Tanto , a masterpiece forged by Paul Chen for Hanwei, evokes the ancestral power of the Tomoe , a Japanese heraldic symbol used in clans and temples. Every line, every texture, honors tradition with artisanal precision and solemnity.
A blade of perfect temper
The hand-forged T10 carbon steel blade features a long, differentially hardened (o)kissaki , revealing a clearly visible temper line (hamon) . This technique provides a hard edge and a flexible body, as dictated by ancient samurai methods.
Details that pay tribute
The fluted tsuka is crafted from buffalo horn , while the deep jet-black saya lends sobriety and elegance. The blackened iron fuchi and kashira are engraved with the Tomoe mon , a seal that frames this piece as a symbol of honor and distinction.

This tanto is part of the prestigious Great Wave series, which also includes the katana (SH5004) and the wakizashi (SH5002) , pieces that can be purchased separately to create a daishō with a noble aesthetic.
