Discover Late Medieval Gorget With Gorget, 1.6mm Steel
Late medieval gorget with gorget, 1.6 mm steel
This wearable replica of a late medieval plate armour for the neck, chin and collar is made from 1.6mm (16 gauge) steel and blackened on the inside for better protection against corrosion.
The neck mount, also called the beard or chinreff , has the multi-layered design typical of late medieval Gothic plate armour (15th/16th century). While the neck and chin guards are firmly riveted together, the top plate is hinged by rivets and can be folded up and down. When pushed up, the extension reaches below the eyes and provides additional facial protection. It is reinforced at the top edge and has a number of round cut-outs that provide the necessary air circulation. On the right side of the chin there is a small elevation that holds the movable plate securely in position when folded.
At the back, the neck support is equipped with a two-piece, side-hinged neck guard, which can be hooked to the front neck guard by means of a small pin. The front and back panels form a complete ring collar.
This armoured collar is ideal for late medieval and renaissance settings. It is equally suitable for medieval reenactment, larp, theatre, TV/film and costume and will make your transformation into a proud and noble knight or warrior simply perfect.

The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend taking care of plate armour regularly, for example with Ballistol, a universal oil ideal for preserving steel products.
