Pompeian type gladius, with sword scabbard
The gladius, the standard weapon of the Roman legions until the 3rd century AD, appeared in several variations. The replica of a Pompeian-style gladius offered here dates from the 1st century.
This sword has a blunt carbon steel blade that is straight and simple, in the style of this gladius. The handle and pommel are made of wood and are secured to the sword with a brass nut. A brass plate is incorporated into the guard.
The included sword scabbard is made of wood, wrapped in red leather, and protected by a brass frame that includes support rings.
