A gambeson is almost indispensable for display and wrestling. The gambeson, also called gambison , armour or aketon , was worn under plate and chain armour in the Middle Ages. It increased the wearing comfort of your steel armour and could also absorb enemy blows, thus reducing the risk of injury.

This ulfberth gambeson is made of three layers of fabric: an outer layer of cotton fabric (canvas), a padded polyester layer and a cotton inner lining. The padding on the upper body is diamond-shaped. The padding is horizontal at the waist and vertical at the hips and arms. The gambeson is fastened with leather straps and metal buckles at the centre front. The sleeves are secured with nestel ties and can be removed as desired. The high collar greatly increases comfort when wearing armour or chainmail on the neck.
