A gambeson is almost indispensable for display and free combat. The gambeson, also called a gambison , armor , or aketon , was worn under plate armor and chain mail in the Middle Ages. It increased the comfort of wearing this steel armor and could also absorb enemy blows, thus reducing the risk of injury.
This Ulfberth gambeson is made from four layers of fabric: an outer layer of cotton fabric (canvas), two padded layers of wool, and a soft cotton inner lining.
Materials:
- Outer material: 100% cotton canvas
- Inner lining: 100% cotton
- Filling (upholstery): 100% wool
- Color: natural (also available: black)
- Neck height: approx. 5 cm
