Knightly Gambeson

The battle was over, and it was time to remove the armor. His squire grabbed the helmet first, allowing the knight to breathe more freely. The breastplate was harder, as it had a large dent where the assailant's battleaxe had struck. The metal had mostly held, though there was a long gash. Though it smelled of blood, sweat, and horsehide, the gambeson was next, though it needed his squire to untie it. Once again, he had reduced a nasty wound to a mere bruise. "Make sure it's repaired. It's saved my life more times than I can count."

The Epic Armory Knightley Gambeson is a long-sleeved, padded jacket that covers the wearer from neck to hips. The padding is either vertical or horizontal depending on the area, allowing for the greatest range of movement. While it can serve as padded armor on its own, as has been the case since at least 400 BC, its most common use is as padding beneath heavier metal armor. It was good, if basic, armor, but when combined with plate or chain mail, it stood out as excellent protection against most weapons.

The outer shell of the Knightly Gambeson is made of 100% cotton. The padding is a 50% cotton and 50% polyester blend. The lining is 100% cotton.
