Franziska, Paul Chen's Throwing Axe, Antique Finish
The franziska, named for its Franconian origins, was used by the Franks as a throwing and hand-to-hand combat weapon.
The elegant shape of this axe is legendary, and its raised top point and downward-curving edge were equally capable of penetrating mail armor.
This Franziska, made by Paul Chen at Hanwei Forge, features a forged axe head with a weathered, gray look and a hardwood handle thickened at the top, ensuring a secure hold of the axe head. Like the originals, the shaft is also slightly curved backward to increase the chance of the axe jamming when thrown.
