Forseti, the chief judge of Asgard, pronounces the law on gods and men. His character is even-tempered, but he is not afraid to settle a dispute with his golden axe. He is the son of the Aesir god Baldur and the goddess Nanna and inhabits the shining hall of gold and silver Glitnir .

His Frisian name is Fosite . He watches over Fositesland , which is now known as Helgoland (=holy land). Here his sacred cattle graze and here there is an inexhaustible spring from which one can only drink in silence.
