Acquire Flamberge - Two-Handed Sword
Flamberge - two-handed sword, dismounted guard
This sword is a replica of a late medieval flame sword from the Emden town hall.
The name flamberge is derived from the wavy, flame-shaped blade. Another name is flame sword or gassenhauer , as the very long blades were used to cut through enemy lines.
The sword has a leather-wrapped ricasso. The handle is made of hardwood. The unsharpened blade is made of carbon steel and has two sturdy guards.
To save shipping costs and effort, the sword is delivered with a disassembled crossguard. However, final assembly of the sword is child's play: simply unscrew the pommel from the tang and loosen the handle nut, which secures the wooden handle. Then remove the wooden handle and place the crossguard over the tang. Once the crossguard is in place, assembly is done in reverse order: place the wooden handle over the tang and secure it with the nut, then screw the pommel onto the tang threads.
