Delight yourself with Roman Phaleras, Made of Tinned Brass.
Roman phalerae, made of tinned brass
Phalerae originated as decorative metal plaques, which served as prizes and awards in sporting competitions or as gifts. They were later used in the Roman legions to bestow honours, comparable to a medal or prize for valor. Phalerae were awarded both to individual soldiers and to entire units or troops. In the case of phalerae awarded to entire units, these were subject to the respective standard.
The faleras offered here, similar to the originals, are attached to a leather belt frame, which is put on like a vest and fastened at the back with straps and buckles. At the height of the collarbones there are thin strips to which a red woollen scarf, the focale , is tied. On the lower loops of the focale two tinned torcs , also badges of honour, are hung.
