Enjoy Rm Chain Skirt, Riveted and Drilled, Di6 Mm, Untreated
Chain skirt rm, riveted and perforated, untreated
- Very authentic and totally suitable for show fights -
The chain skirt, also called chain apron, was especially popular in the late Middle Ages, as during this period plate armour dominated and only the exposed parts and transitions were protected with ring armour. Our chain skirts are also ideal as starting material for your own projects.
The RM chain mail is made of rings with a diameter of only 6 mm. According to the original templates, it consists of a row of riveted rings (round rivet heads) and a row of perforated rings. Due to the extremely small diameter of the rings, these chain mail could then and now be made of steel with a material thickness of only 1 mm without losing their strength. This results in a weight reduction of approximately 30 - 35 %.
We shortened this type of braid to rm (English = roman maille ) because it was already very popular among the Celts and Romans (hamata). This ring armour mesh was in use throughout the late Middle Ages.
