The Epic Armoury 85cm Battleworn Falcata is a single-edged latex medium sword inspired by the weapons used by ancient Iberian mercenaries. The 66cm blade is designed to act as both an axe head and a thrusting sword, delivering powerful blows while also stabbing and slashing like the best. The Falcata is handcrafted and painted to look like real steel, wood, and gold trim, but as with our other Battleworn weapons, details and paint effects have been added to make this sword look used and bruised. The 10cm hilt at the end of the Falcata is realistically molded and hooked around the hand, very similar to the traditional weapon.
The blade is made of durable closed-cell foam around a solid 8mm fiberglass core, built to keep you safe! It's finished with a strong latex coating. The handle is made of maintenance-free polyurethane, meaning you'll enjoy using this sword in your LARP play for many seasons to come.
A typical weapon of the Celtic mercenaries of southwestern Europe, this sword is ideal for barbarian and savage characters. Since it also resembles Greek and Egyptian curved weapons, it can also be used by war veterans from exotic locations looking to start a new life as adventurers.HISTORY

Maintenance
The polyurethane handle of this hybrid weapon requires no special maintenance. The leather wrapped around the grip requires care.
Leather Grip Care
Natural leather products are very durable, but they require regular maintenance with leather care products to stay supple and extend their lifespan. Make sure your leather products stay dry when stored. Let wet leather dry naturally before treating it. If it frequently gets wet and dries, increase the frequency of maintenance.
Cleaning
Clean by removing dirt with a stiff brush, then gently rub leather soap with a clean, damp cloth until the leather looks clean. Remove the soap with a separate damp cloth to clean any soap residue, and then use a dry cloth to wipe away any remaining water from the leather.
Conditioning
You should always condition leather after cleaning it, as the soap will have removed some of its natural oils. Treat the leather with mink oil, olive oil, or beeswax using a clean cloth, gently rubbing a small amount of oil or wax into the leather in circles. Allow the leather to soak in the oil before wiping it with a final clean cloth to remove excess residue.
Latex Sheet Care
The blade of this LARP weapon has a latex coating that requires some maintenance. For this purpose, we recommend using Maintenance Silicone, which can be purchased separately in the LARP Accessories section. Epic Armory Maintenance Silicone is an easy-to-use spray that is 100% pure and acid-free, making it safe to apply. We recommend using Maintenance Silicone regularly, taking care not to spray the handle by first wrapping it in cling film. This maintains the flexibility of the latex layer and prevents it from drying out, keeping the product resistant to wear and tear.
Storage
Store your gun horizontally or on its pommel, NEVER on its tip. Use a simple sheet or towel lining to prevent it from touching a plastic or rubber surface and prevent your gun from sticking to other materials. Keep your gun in a cool, dry environment.
