Delight in Extrema Ratio Kh, Machete
Extreme ratio kh, machete
There's a reason it's a classic. The "kukri" regiment was made famous by the Gurkha regiments that served under the British crown. A multipurpose Nepalese blade descended from ancient Greek sickle-shaped swords. Essentially, it's a machete with a heavy, forward-facing top edge that allows it to function as an axe while maintaining the versatility of a long blade. Extrema Ratio has developed two such tools, the KS and KH models, which combine ancient and modern design concepts. Both use combination grinds. The razor-like hollow grind near the handle provides a fine, razor-sharp edge without compromising the overall thickness of the blade's spine (which should be very strong). The tip of the blade, on the other hand, is ground flat and well-angled to easily penetrate wood and plants. While similar tools are typically made from softer steel alloys to increase elasticity and facilitate honing, Etrema Ratio was able to achieve sufficient elasticity with the hard Böhler N690 steel, resulting in a remarkably durable cutting edge.
