"Marcel was a professional. His gloves felt like a fish had swallowed his hand, as the fabric was soaked with water from the relentless rain. His hat dripped and the feather in the back fell off, dripping icy water down the nape of his neck. But Marcel didn't move, as he was on the prowl. His target was a young nobleman who had insulted the queen's chambermaid. Marcel struck with the speed of a viper as the young nobleman drunkenly stormed out of the tavern. By the time the alarm sounded, he was gone."

Epic Armoury's Rillet Rapier is part of the Vanguard line and takes its design cues from Renaissance rapiers. While most rapiers featured a thin blade, this one is designed like the rapiers traditionally used for battle and warfare, rather than the ornate blades of the courts of Europe. The weapon's guard is designed to protect both the top of the hand (like a normal crossguard) and the fingers like a normal basket hilt would. The handle has grooves to improve the wielder's grip, while the foreguard (or rainguard) sits within the crossguard, with engravings that resemble vines. Similarly, the pommel has matching engravings throughout to match the veneer. The blade is made of closed-cell polyurethane foam and colored to look as realistic as possible. Unlike most LARP weapons, the Vanguard line requires virtually no maintenance beyond checking for wear in the form of cuts or breaks.
