Moosburg Graduale songs from 1360
One of the most important musical manuscripts from the Wittelsbach-Bavarian cultural region of the late Middle Ages was created in Moosburg around 1360. In addition to its impressive cathedral, the town also boasted the Collegiate Church of St. Kastulo. Dean Joh von Perchhausen, master and prefect of the monastery, initiated this magnificent work, which was later completed by Landshut's town clerk, Ernst.
A treasure trove of songs for the ordinary and proper Mass attests to the high level of liturgical music in southern Germany, numerous sequences, hymns and tropes from the wealth of free spiritual poetry in pre-Tridentine Europe.
Est! is able to locate the sound and musical culture of the late Middle Ages in written and improvised music and revive it at a high level with distinct forms and colors. The members of est! owe much of their creative approach to the phenomenon of "early music" and their commitment to contemporary forms of musical culture on the border between serious and popular music, between tradition and vision.
