Delight in Germanic Combat Spade, Sk-b
The Germans display battle swords from the Migration Period
Spathae have been known since Roman times and were later adapted and developed by Germanic tribes. They are slashing swords with wide, straight, double-edged blades that are wielded in one hand.
This is a reconstruction of the spathes as they were widely used in the Germanic settlement area between the 1st and 6th centuries. The blade is forged from high-quality spring steel and tempered to approximately 48 HRC. It has a pronounced groove, which gives the sword great elasticity yet lightness. The edge is unsharpened. The pommel and crossguard are made of riveted brass plates enclosing a horn disc inside. The handle is made of wood, brass, and horn.
Delivery includes a matching wooden sword scabbard. It is covered in leather and has brass foot plates and mouthpiece.
