Get Torshov Viking Sword With Scabbard, 9th-10th Century, Exhibition Fight, Sk-b
Viking Torshov sword, 9th - 10th centuries, combat sword, sk-b
Our battle-ready replica of this Viking sword is based on a find near Torshov (Gjerdrum) in southern Norway. The handle section belongs to type H, which was used around 800-950 AD and must have been very popular, as many finds demonstrate the widespread use of this type of sword handle.
This sword is exclusively handmade. The short, straight guard and the typical triangular crowned pommel are made of forged and heat-treated cast iron. The blade is continuous all the way to the pommel, where it is hand-riveted. The handle is wrapped with a leather strap. The blade is forged from high-quality spring steel and tempered to approx. 48 - 50 HRC. It has a pronounced groove, which gives the sword great elasticity and at the same time lightness. The tip of the blade and the cutting edges are blunt and rounded.
The sword comes with a very nice wooden leather scabbard with a wooden holder as a belt loop (for belts max. 5 cm wide).
