Petersen H Type Viking Sword – Category B, Show Combat

A balanced, affordable, historical Viking sword perfect for fencers and reenactors. Inspired by original 9th/10th-century models found in Birka, Sweden, this Petersen H-type Viking sword was developed for show combat in collaboration with fencing master Volker Kunkel and his West Coast Institute. Although Volker passed away in 2021 before seeing this project completed, his experience and vision were instrumental in delivering an accessible, robust, and functional sword.
Manufactured by Ulfberth® , this weapon features an oil-tempered spring steel blade with a Rockwell hardness of 48–52 HRC , and is delivered without a scabbard, but leather sheath options are available separately. Its lightweight, wide-groove design allows for excellent handling, ideal even for novice fencers.

Both versions have a blade width of 4.6 cm, blade thickness of 4 mm (2 mm edges) and guard measuring 10 x 2.5 x 1.7 cm.
