Delight yourself with Viking Sword from the Isle of Eigg, Damascus Steel.

Viking sword from the Isle of Eigg, with Damascus blade
This Viking sword is a replica of an 8th- to 9th-century sword found on the Isle of Eigg. Its blunt, thin Damascus blade has a wide kerf. The short guard, handle, and pommel are cast in bronze and richly decorated.
The sword's scabbard is made of wood covered in leather and has a bronze chapel and mouth plate, as well as a bronze holder as a belt loop (for belts with a maximum width of 5 cm).
The term Damascus steel, Damascus steel, or simply Damascus refers to a composite steel made from two or more different types of steel. The name is derived from the Syrian city of Damascus, which was an ancient fortress.
It is considered the origin of Damascus steel production.
Typically, a high-carbon, hard steel and a low-carbon, soft steel are joined by repeated welding and forging. The high-carbon steel provides greater hardness, better hardenability, and improved edge retention, while the softer steel gives the blade greater elasticity and greater resistance to breakage. With this technology, which was developed in an era of poor and changing steel grades, the positive properties of different steels can be combined.

Due to the different colors and varying carbon content, stunning patterns of alternating layers are created, such as twisted damask, so-called torsion damask, or rose damask. Because of these patterns, medieval Damascus swords were said to have an inherent magic.
This sword is also available in a standard version with a carbon steel blade (item number 0116040601).
