Viking sword with scabbard, 11th century
Exhibition sword, Category-B
The one-handed sword offered here is a fitting interpretation of an 11th-century Viking combat display sword. This type of sword (Oakeshott type)
The double-edged blade of tempered EN45 spring steel tapers slightly towards the tip and is provided with a groove approximately 2 cm wide that runs almost the entire length of the blade. The unsharpened cutting edges are especially thick, and the continuous tang of the blade is riveted to the pommel. The wooden handle is tightly wrapped with a thin brown leather strap. It is framed by a sturdy pommel and a straight guard, both made of steel. The guard is approximately 16.5 cm long, approximately 2 cm thick in the middle, and tapers cylindrical to approximately 0.5 cm.
This one-handed sword comes with a brown wooden/leather scabbard.
This sword is a version suitable for light show combat. With its approximately 1.5 mm / 2 mm thick blunt edges and rounded tip, it's perfect for reenactments, light show combat, or sparring.
