Enjoy Saxon Sword With Scabbard

Saxon sword with scabbard
Several preserved (or partially preserved) original examples from the 5th and 6th centuries AD (Migration Period) served as models for this beautiful reconstruction of a Saxon one-handed sword.
In terms of design, this one-handed sword is a classic example of a Germanic weapon from the early Middle Ages.
It has a wooden handle, a short, sturdy guard, a generous pommel, and a wide, straight, double-edged blade made of EN45 spring steel with a long and wide mortise. The cutting edges are unsharpened, and the tang of the continuous blade is screwed into the end of the handle.
As with many originals from this period, the pommel here is composed of several parts riveted together. The guard features the same three-part construction, consisting of a wooden interlayer between two cast brass elements, providing beautiful contrasting accents.
This decorative and economical one-handed sword comes with a black leather/wood scabbard with a brass mouthpiece and cap.
This sword is designed as a collector's item or decorative object and is also ideal as an accessory, for example to complete your costume.
Details:
- Material: EN45 spring steel blade (carbon steel, not stainless), wooden and brass guard and pommel, wooden handle
- Total length: approx. 101.5cm
- Blade length: approx. 84 cm
- Blade thickness: approx. 4 mm (cutting edges approx. 1 mm)
- Handle length: approx. 17.5 cm (handle section approx. 10 cm)
- Maximum blade width: approx. 4.3 cm.
- Center of gravity: approx. 21 cm in front of the guard
- Incl. wooden case with genuine leather sheath and brass fittings
- Weight without cover: approx. 1.26kg
- Weight with case: approx. 1.83 kg
The above specifications may vary slightly from specimen to specimen.
The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend regular maintenance of the blade, for example with Ballistol, a universal oil ideal for preserving steel products.
