The Normans were direct descendants of the Vikings who settled in northern France in the 10th century. However, they were in no way inferior to their ancestors in terms of fighting spirit, courage and martial skill. It is no wonder that of all the swords of the early Middle Ages, Norman swords are the ones that most resemble Viking swords.

This battle-ready reconstruction of a Norman one-handed sword from ulfberth® follows fully in the tradition of this extremely dynamic sword type.

Typologically, the sword can be clearly classified as an Oakshott type. incógnita. The crossguard is of type 6 and the Brazil nut pommel, so typical of Norman swords, is of type A.

The forged blade made of EN45 spring steel is oil-hardened and tempered to approx. 50 HRC. It is forged up to the pommel and riveted there to the end of the handle. The wooden handle is covered with leather. The crossguard is forged from steel. The blade has a pronounced groove, which gives the sword great elasticity and at the same time lightness. The tip of the blade and the cutting edges are blunt and rounded. The one-handed sword is made exclusively by hand.

The sword is delivered without a scabbard. A matching leather scabbard can be ordered as an option (item number: 0107000104).
