Michael 'Tinker' Pearce has designed a range of Hanwei swords made from 5160 steel that combine authenticity, functionality and performance.

To meet the varying demands of Western martial artists, each of the seven swords is available in sharp and blunt versions, all of which offer excellent handling. Careful heat treatment of the 5160 steel (Tinker's favorite) by hot-dip hardening (marquenching) results in an excellent combination of strength and flexibility with a Rockwell hardness of 50-52 HRC.
It allows for greater strength on the edges of sharpened blades, while preventing the formation of burrs on dull models and ensuring the
Safety-related tip flexibility.

For each type of sword in this series, with the exception of the early Viking sword, replacement blades are available. A key feature of the designs
Tinker's unique feature is that the blades are replaceable. This gives you the option to purchase a complete sword plus a spare blade so you can use both the sharpened and dull versions. All longswords, bastard swords, and early medieval swords feature the mounting system.
Tinker special with hex nuts, which allows easy blade changes using an allen key and ensures the handle remains
Securely fixed.

To compensate for the thicker edge, the blunt versions have a longer groove. In addition, the flattened tip ensures the necessary flexibility for safety. The flattened heel pommel (Type T-1) forms a natural extension of the two-handed grip, and the sturdy square crossguard (Type 2) provides the necessary security. The handle has a cord-wrapped hardwood core, covered with leather, and fitted with steel fittings. A leather-covered sheath is included.
