Enjoy Italian Hand and a Half Sword with Scabbard
Italian one and a half hand sword with scabbard
This sword is a replica of a 15th-century Italian sword. The original is now in the Museo Civico L. Mazzoli in Brescia, Italy.
Already in the Late Middle Ages, sword production was divided in terms of labor, because the blade came from a well-known smithy in Passau, southern Germany, and was assembled in northern Italy with the handle pieces typical of the Italian fashion.
Typologically, the sword can be classified as Oakeshott Type XVIII or possibly Type XVI.
This reconstruction is entirely handmade. The slightly forward-curved crossguard and octagonal pommel are made of iron. The blade runs continuously to the pommel and is screwed onto the pommel. The handle is wrapped with a leather strap. The blade has a pronounced groove, giving the sword great elasticity yet lightness. The blade's edge is unsharpened.
The sword comes with a beautiful leather covered wooden scabbard.
This is the standard version of the Italian one-and-a-half-handed sword. The same sword is also available in a combat-ready version with a blunt blade and rounded tip: art. 0116341906.
