Gunnar was the newest member of the Varangian guard. He stood much taller than the nobles at court, and with his long blond hair and beard, he cut an imposing figure. His armor had seen battle during the recent uprising, and the head he wore left a trail of blood behind it. To the astonishment of the nobles at court, Gunnar still smelled of soap and oils, as if he had just stepped out of the bathhouse. “My Emperor. I have brought the rebel leader as requested.” He tossed the head to one of the nobles, who caught it and dropped it with a sharp cry. “And that man is guilty as well.”

Epic Armoury's Hirdsman sword is part of the Vanguard line and is inspired by the swords of the Hirdsmen, the armored companies of Scandinavian kings during the Viking Age, with its small hilt and carved details. The hilt is made of polyurethane and has a high degree of hardness. Details, as it is sculpted to resemble wood reinforced with metal, guaranteeing comfort and a great grip for the wielder. The blade is made of closed-cell polyurethane foam and colored to look as realistic as possible. The Vanguard line requires virtually no maintenance beyond checking for wear in the form of cuts or breaks.
