The Chinese leaf gim is considered a civilian weapon. It was more or less a knight's weapon that looked impressive but was durable enough to provide good defense on the street or in the open field. Cold Steels® Interpretation has a blade approximately 84.5 cm long, made of heat-treated carbon steel. It is relatively lightweight, allowing it to be wielded with the fingers, wrist, and forearm, similar to a Western small sword. Traditionally, it is primarily used for stabbing, but it can also be used for slashing and cutting. The rosewood handle and matching scabbard complement the crossguard, pommel, and other hardware, cast in stainless steel to resist corrosion.
