The Scottish broadsword, the infamous weapon of Highland clansmen, has a long, double-edged blade and a distinctive basket hilt. On the battlefields of the world, it proved that when combined with the targe (fist shield) and dirk (dagger), it was a match for any opponent.
Cold Steel® didn't miss the opportunity to develop its own version of this famous sword. Hand-forged, expertly hardened, and beautifully polished, the double-edged 1055 carbon steel blade has three serrations, and any of these swords would easily pass the rigorous British Proof test . The basket is crafted from blued steel. The wooden handle is covered with ray skin and wrapped with wire. Also included is a leather-covered wooden scabbard with a blued steel cap and mouthpiece.
Carbon steel 1055
The carbon content and relatively low levels of other materials in this steel make it a very stable material, free from the brittleness inherent in most high-carbon steels. This steel is ideal for blades that require high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes, and swords.
