Gift Viking Temple Sword with Scabbard
Viking temple sword with scabbard
The Viking sword, or Carolingian sword, is a type of sword that was used in Western and Northern Europe during the High Middle Ages. The Viking sword developed from the Roman spathe and was used by the Franks during the Carolingian period (between 751 and 911).
This sword was created entirely by hand. The crossguard and the typical tricorn pommel are made of steel. The blade runs continuously to the pommel, where it is hand-riveted. The handle is wrapped with a leather strap. The blade is forged from high-quality spring steel and tempered to approximately 48 HRC. It has a pronounced groove, which gives the sword great elasticity yet lightness. The blade's edge is unsharpened.
The sword comes with a very handsome leather sheath and a wooden belt loop (for belts with a maximum width of 5 cm). The scabbard has a richly decorated brass scabbard.
This is the standard version of this Viking sword. The same sword is also available in a combat-ready version with a blunt blade and rounded tip: art. 0116696306.
