Ewart Oakeshott, renowned English sword enthusiast, researcher, and author of important books on the sword, described Henry V's sword as... "one of the most beautiful medieval swords he ever held." It is balanced like a good fishing rod.
It is a sword designed to be a first-class weapon: simple, practical, and of high quality. The massive, thick pommel looks deceptively heavy, but it is actually hollow. The raised edges on either side were soldered to an inner iron disc. The pommel recesses were gilded and accented with red crosses painted to mark the king's funeral. The sword hung over King Henry's tomb in Westminster Abbey until it was finally housed in a chest. In 1951, it was discovered, cleaned (by Mr. Oakeshott himself!), and added to King Henry's other accoutrements (his helmet, shield, and saddle) in the Abbey Museum. It was obviously in frequent use; the blade appears to be slightly narrowed due to multiple sharpenings. The original handle is long gone, and the current wooden grip is probably a rough replacement. This sword is referred to as Type XVIII in Oakeshott's Medieval Sword Records.
As a prince, at the age of 16, Henry was nearly killed by an arrow that pierced his face. As king, he led a small band of knights and archers to victory over a much larger French force at the Battle of Agincourt, one of the most stunning achievements in English military history.

It's beautifully balanced and fits the hand very well. Like the original, the pommel is hollow, has gold lining in the recesses, and has a red enamel cross on each side (enamel was used rather than paint for durability). An exact replica of an actual battlesword once used by the King of England. A design with just enough flair for elegance, yet a pragmatic and effective slashing weapon.
