Treat yourself to Sir William Marshal's Sword with Scabbard, 12th Century.
Sir William Marshal's sword with scabbard, 12th century
The original of this sword belonged to Sir William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke, one of England's foremost knights. He served the British crown with loyalty and devotion under Henry II, Richard the Lionheart, and Johann Ohneland. The sword now resides in a British museum.
Our reconstruction is based on the original in great detail. It is crafted entirely by hand. The steel crossguard and pommel impress with their simple elegance and functionality. The spring steel blade extends to the pommel, where it is hand-riveted. The handle is wrapped with a leather strap. The blade has a pronounced groove, giving the sword great elasticity yet lightness. It is oil-hardened to approximately 48–50 HRC. The blade edge is unsharpened.
The sword comes with a very nice wooden leather sheath with brass rings to attach it to the sword belt.
This is the standard version of this early medieval sword. The same sword is also available in a combat-ready version with a blunt blade and rounded tip: art. 0116696906.
