Enjoy Oliver Cromwell's Sword
Oliver Cromwell's sword
Oliver Cromwell (1599–1658) was a prominent and powerful figure during and after the English Civil War. He began his career as a simple MP but rose to become a general and eventually Lord Protector. His sword, which he is said to have carried at the Battle of Drogheda in 1649, is surprisingly well preserved and can now be admired as a permanent display in the collection of the Royal Armouries in Leeds. The Cromwell sword of Hanwei is a very faithful copy. The typical style of the basket with its blackened guard and gilt trim is as faithful to the original as the sharkskin-wrapped handle. Lacking the original scabbard, this one was inspired by the typical style of the period.
A must-have piece for any lover of English history.
