Presents the Sword of the Munich Municipal Guard
Sword of the Munich Municipal Guard
There are several originals of these swords in various public and private collections, one in the Wallace Collection and several in the Bavarian National Museum. After which this replica was created. It is a perfect example of a German military slashing and stabbing sword carried by the Munich City Guard around 1600. The slightly shorter blade and strong handle were perfect for breaking up a street fight or tavern brawl, as the City Guard often did, and was clearly intended for practical use.
Nbsp;
The blade is made of fine, hardened 1065 high-carbon steel. The pommel and crossguard are made of steel, and the handle is made of wood, wrapped with twisted steel wire to ensure a very firm grip. The blade is unsharpened.
This sword comes with a leather sheath.
