Late Viking Age sword with scabbard, Brazil nut pommel



In the High Middle Ages, Viking swords began to lose some of their characteristic features, such as the broad, slowly tapering blade and tricorn pommel, and began to look more and more like the longswords of the Middle Ages.

This faithful replica replaces the tricorne pommel with the Brazil nut shape and the short, thick guard element of earlier swords is adapted to the thinner, elongated, classic medieval cross shape. The blade is continuous to the pommel, where it is hand-riveted. The handle is wrapped with a leather strap.



The blade has a pronounced groove, which gives the sword great elasticity and at the same time lightness. The edges of the blade are not sharpened.



The sword is delivered with a very nice wooden leather scabbard with a wooden holder as a belt loop (for belts with a maximum width of 5 cm). The scabbard has a richly decorated brass hood.



This is the standard version of this Viking sword. The same sword is also available in a combat-ready version with a blunt blade and rounded tip: art. 0180001606.
