Gift Late Viking Age Sword with Scabbard
Late Viking Age sword with scabbard, Brazil nut pommel
In the High Middle Ages, Viking swords began to lose some of their characteristic features, such as the broad, slowly tapering blade and the tricorn pommel, and began to increasingly resemble medieval longswords.
br
This faithful replica replaces the tricorn pommel with a Brazil nut shape, and the short, thick guard of earlier swords is adapted to the slimmer, elongated, and classic medieval crossguard shape. The blade runs continuously to the pommel, where it is hand-riveted. The handle is wrapped with a leather strap.
The blade has a pronounced groove, which gives the sword great elasticity yet lightness. The edges of the blade are not sharp.
The sword comes with a very handsome leather sheath and a wooden belt loop (for belts with a maximum width of 5 cm). The scabbard has a richly decorated brass scabbard.
This is the standard version of this Viking sword. The same sword is also available in a combat-ready version with a blunt blade and rounded tip: item 0180001606.
