The medieval man at arms was a brave and loyal fighter full of martial heroism who mastered a variety of weapons with great skill. He was a veteran of countless battles, often going first into action and, although not a knight, he fought and trained alongside them as a brother in arms. In honor of these tough and dedicated wandering soldiers, Cold Steel® has created the Man at Arms collection of weapons. Compared to Cold Steels® premium versions, these combat-ready weapons lack the usual shiny blades and silver-polished steel elements, but the MAA series products come close to matching the other products in quality and performance. The fully-honed, blued blades are characterized by their unmistakable metallic look, which harmonizes perfectly with the black handles. And when properly oiled, they reveal their inherent, radiant beauty.

The maa knightly sword is inspired by the favorite weapon of many medieval foot or hiking soldiers. On the battlefield, this smaller, double-edged sword was more maneuverable than many of the heavier swords. It was light enough to wield in one hand and also stiff enough to cut through unprotected gaps in a knight’s armor or punch through mail armor! Cold Steel®’s interpretation of this lightning-fast combat sword is crafted from carbon steel that’s expertly hardened and then deeply blued to a jet-black finish. With its forward-curved crossguard, grooved leather handle, and disc pommel to offset weight, this knightly sword is excellently balanced and also looks beautiful with its blued steel hardware.



The maa knight's sword comes with a hand-stitched black leather scabbard with a mouth plate and a steel sheath.



1090 carbon steel

1090 carbon steel is an excellent choice for larger fixed blades. It sharpens easily and holds that edge, but remains tough enough to withstand the most brutal stress tests. In short: a good all-purpose carbon steel that remains very durable even with heavy use.
