The Greek hoplite was a tough and effective citizen soldier and defended his home city with all his might. The leaf-shaped blade of this sword dates from around the 5th century BC and was very popular throughout the ancient world, based on many illustrations and excavated examples. Features include a steel guard and a leather-covered wooden handle pommel. The blade is made of high-carbon steel. This is one of the finest weapons of the ancient world.
Includes matching wooden case with leather sheath and brass appliqués.
