Get Bruce Sword, Medieval One-Handed Sword with Scabbard
Bruce sword, medieval one-handed sword with scabbard
Named after Robert I of Scotland (1274–1329), commonly known as Robert the Bruce or Robert the Bruce , this one-handed sword is not a reconstruction of this famous Scottish warrior's weapon, but rather a tribute to his great deeds and legacy. In 1314, after years of fighting against the English crown, King Robert defeated the army of Edward II of England at the Battle of Bannockburn, a decisive battle that eventually led to the restoration of Scotland's independence. Alongside the legendary William Wallace, Robert the Bruce remains one of Scotland's most famous historical figures.
This decorative one-handed sword has a double-edged EN45 spring steel blade with a long, wide handle. The cutting edges are unsharpened, and the continuous tang of the blade is screwed into the pommel. The handle consists of a slightly downward-curving guard, a strong octagonal pommel (Oakeshott Type I1, most popular in the 14th century), and a handle with a wooden core, which is elaborately wrapped with a brown braided leather thong.
The guard and pommel are made of solid brass and decorated with glossy red enamel inlays. While the ends of the guard are inlaid with crosses, the pommel displays the so-called rampant lion (a heraldic representation of a lion standing upright with its front paws raised, as if ready to attack), which is very reminiscent of the coat of arms of King Robert I of Scotland: a crimson lion on a yellow background.
This high medieval knight's sword comes with a brown wooden/leather scabbard with two carrying rings.
This medieval sword is designed as a collectible or decorative object. It's also ideal as an accessory, for example to complete your costume, and will make your transformation into a proud knight or a noble king simply perfect.
