German and Swiss soldiers, known for their strength and bravery, were the first to use this type of sword. The bastard sword soon became increasingly popular in other parts of continental Europe and the British Isles.
The name bastard is undoubtedly due to the fact that the sword cannot be classified as a single, two-handed, or two-handed sword. This one-and-a-half-handed sword was developed specifically for infantry and was a common weapon in the early 16th century. Northern European cultures made the development of different fighting styles with the one-and-a-half-handed sword their specialty. In this sense, the Germanic peoples played an important role in the dissemination of this sword and used it extensively.
The antique patina of the blade gives this Paul Chen bastard sword a particularly authentic look. The mouthpiece and fore-end of the leather-wrapped scabbard are made of patinated steel.
