The large Viking shield we offer here is suitable for reenactment or light show, fighting or sparring.



The combat-ready round shield consists of 3 layers of MDF (medium-density fibreboard) and is covered or draped on the front with a sturdy, natural-coloured canvas (so-called canvas ). The fabric has been left unpainted to give you the opportunity to personalise the shield with your own colours or motifs if you wish. With a little practical know-how and skill, you will be able to transform the blank shield into an authentic shield from the Viking Age.



The edge of the shield is covered with rawhide, which is considered more impact resistant and durable than tanned leather. It absorbs shocks and impacts significantly better and will therefore prolong the life of the shield.



The generously designed shield hump offers enough space even for strong Viking hands and is firmly fixed with four nails.



On the back, the wooden shield is equipped with three nailed reinforcing slats made of pine wood. The central bar also serves as a grip for the fist and is rounded at the level of the shield hole for a comfortable grip.
