This authentic medieval buckler is crafted from sturdy 14-gauge tempered steel, designed to withstand the rigors of historical play and combat training. Measuring 9.25 inches wide, it's perfectly sized to provide effective hand protection while allowing for quick movement and control.
The buckler's face features a textured finish reminiscent of medieval wargear. The raised central boss helps deflect blows and protect the wearer's knuckles, while the sturdy wooden handle riveted to the back ensures a secure grip during action.
Historically, bucklers were very popular between the 12th and 16th centuries, and were used by both soldiers and civilians. They were especially prized for close combat, for parrying and deflecting bladed weapons. Their small size made them easy to carry on a belt, ready for sudden encounters.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
- After each use, wipe the surface with a lightly oiled cloth to prevent rust.
- Store in a dry place away from moisture.
- Periodically inspect the rivets and the integrity of the grip if used for sparring.
IDEAL FOR:
- Medieval and Renaissance events
- Historical fencing practice
- LARP and stage combat
- Collectors of authentic reproduction weapons
- Displayed as part of a medieval weapons collection.
