A strong push for battle

The Epic Armoury Wooden Drang Shield is a 70cm round latex shield perfectly designed for coastal raiding. Inspired by early Vikings and Saxons, this LARP-safe shield looks just like the real thing—without hurting your costumed friends. With a realistically textured surface and hand-painted finish, this shield appears to be made of wooden slats around an iron protrusion.

Pair this Drang shield with a Viking axe and impress your fellow warriors on the battlefield. Its slightly convex shape and iron protrusion at the front provide an advantage in combat, and its reinforced handle fits comfortably in your hand thanks to its shape and brown suede wrapping. Keep your shield in excellent condition with regular latex maintenance.

Used by Vikings and Saxons before the 10th century

• Drang is the German word for “drive,” making this shield as eager for battle as your character.
• The Chief Shield, the round, convex piece of material in the center of the shield, was used to deflect blows
• The roundwood style was predominantly used in the European High Middle Ages using lightweight, non-splintering wood such as linden, spruce, alder or poplar.
