Théodred was the only son of King Théoden and therefore heir to the throne of Rohan and second marshal of Riddermark. He was killed by orcs on Saruman's orders at the First Battle of the Fords of Isen. Théodred's sword was the counterpart to his cousin Éowyn's sword. The two swords were virtually identical, save for the green enamel on the hilt and the green leather-wrapped grip.
