Treat Yourself to the Alamaní Cookbook
The Alamanni Cookbook
By Andrea Graupel and Stefan Müller
- A delightful journey back in time to the Middle Ages -
Hardcover, 128 pages
Numerous color photographs, 21.5 x 20.5 cm format
Content:
The Alemanni tribe settled in southwestern Germany for almost five centuries, beginning around 260 AD. Entire settlements have been discovered and excavated in present-day Baden-Württemberg in recent years. These archaeological finds provide a unique insight into life in an early medieval village and allow conclusions to be drawn about the dietary habits of the Alemanni. Using these sources and written evidence from historical writers of other cultures, the authors have created recipes just as they were prepared on the Alemanni hearths 1,800 years ago.
Enjoy the culinary enlightenment of a bygone era with new recipes.

The authors:
Andrea Graupel, born in 1963, showed an interest in cooking as a child and became a passionate amateur cook. Between 2002 and 2005, Stefan Müller (co-author of the Alamannen Kochbuch) increasingly attracted her to the Alamannenmuseum Ellwangen, which also sparked her interest in history. In 2005, she joined the German group Raetovarier as a co-founder and quickly became a "group cook." Since then, she has also been involved in research, particularly in the areas of food, beverages, herbs, and, above all, "antique cuisine."
Stefan Müller, born in 1971, became interested in history and archaeology from a very young age. In 1998, he became a member of the Archaeological Society of Württemberg and Hohenzollern V., and in 2002, he began his museum training at the Alamannenmuseum Ellwangen. As if that weren't enough, in 2005 he founded the German group Raetovarier and increasingly dedicated himself to researching and experiencing history in his hobby. Of course, research also includes tasting, especially the dishes prepared by Andrea Graupel (co-author of the Alamannen cookbook).
