Enjoy The Hobbit - Orcrist, The Sword Of Thorin Oakenshield

Orcrist, the sword of Thorin Oakenshield

The sword from the original hobbit movie by united cutlery

In the Third Age of Middle-earth, Thorin Oakenshield ( Thorin Oakenshield ) and his company of Dwarves stumble upon a troll cave in Rhûdaur. Thorin finds an ancient Elven sword called the Orcrist (= Orc Cleaver), which was forged by the High Elves of the West in Gondolin. Thorin claims Orcrist for his own and vows to use it to divide the Orcs again. He takes the sword on the journey to Erebor and uses it against the Orcs and Goblins of the Misty Mountains. The Orcs call him Biter and fear and hate him.

Orcrist's sword is shaped like a curved blade on one side and a straight edge on the opposite side. The blade design suited for cleaving orcs and goblins. An emblem of the coat of arms of Ecthelion, lord of the pit, adorns the pommel of the sword. The handle is formed from a dragon's tooth. It is not known whether this tooth was incorporated before the fifth battle of the first age or was added along with the inscription after the fall of gondolin.

Inscriptions on the sword in elven runes:

The name orcrist (= orc cleaver) can be read on the crosshead

On both sides of the leaf you can read the serpent's tooth (= dragon's).
