Gjermundbu Helmet With Riveted Helmet, 2mm Steel GRÖßE L

Gift Gjermundbu Helmet With Riveted Helmet, 2mm Steel

The Gjermundbu helmet with riveted breastplate, 2 mm steel
- Suitable for combat -

The Gjermundbu helmet was discovered in 1943 during excavations of a Viking Age burial mound. It was reconstructed by experts and is now on display at the National Museum of Antiquities (Oldsaksamlinga) in Oslo. The helmet dates back to 970 AD.

This is an example of a Viking helmet with goggles, which guarantees the fighter good historical protection and at the same time a sufficient field of vision. The helmet and especially its shoulder straps also show the close relationship with the helmet group of the so-called Nordic comb helmets .

There are a few replicas of the Gjermundbu helmet on the market today, but only a few are as original and at the same time offer the protection as this battle-ready replica of Ulfberth. The bell of his helmet consists of two parts and is made of 2 mm thick steel and carefully welded together. Four hand-forged iron bands are riveted onto the bell of the helmet and cross each other (so-called buckles), which further strengthens the helmet. The goggles, which are also hand-made from 2 mm thick steel, are also riveted on, a face shield that reaches well below the wearer's nose. The goggles have been given the same chisel notches as the originals.

The helmet has a chain-link made of riveted round rings (rrr), as remains of a riveted chain-link can also be found in the find from 1943. The forged helmet tip is only screwed on and can be easily removed, for example for safe display in combat.

The helmet is not deliberately polished to a high gloss, but has an artificially aged surface which underlines its authenticity. It has a very high-quality, riveted, adjustable padded liner as well as a robust leather chin strap and a brass buckle.

This excellent helmet reconstruction is a tangible piece of history that is equally interesting and affordable for both the collector and the Viking Age reenactor.

This helmet model is available in sizes S, M and L.
