Enjoy Dragon Cloud Yanone, Japanese Arrowhead
Dragon cloud yanone, Japanese arrowhead
This Japanese arrowhead ( yanone ) is a replica of an original museum piece.
Japanese arrowheads, called yajiri or yanone , had many different uses and shapes. Some of them were strictly utilitarian, while others were ornate and decorated for performances and temple offerings. It is said that samurai had a quiver of 26 arrows ( ya ) and one of them, called a kabura-ya or whistling arrow , was only used when the battle was considered lost.
Most arrowheads fall into broad, specific groups. The Dragon Cloud arrowhead offered here falls into the Rope Cutter pattern. Although occasionally referred to as Rope Cutters, these arrowheads were most commonly used in combat and for hunting big game. This arrowhead variant was used from the Middle Ages through the Renaissance and beyond. These arrowheads, whether individually or in groups, make great collector's pieces and will generate some conversation about your collection.
