From the dark and beautiful beginning, magical folk melodies and powerful melodies unite. A profound love of music and a keen interest in foreign cultures and their history come together in the Middle Ages. It's no surprise then that Dunkelschön's fourth sonic gem has been dubbed "Katharsis" (Catharsis), not without reason, and thus promises depth in both content and composition.

Like all medieval folk music albums, Katharsis also takes the listener to an acoustic otherworld where cultural spaces and history intertwine in a new way. Most of the pieces come from the band's own writing, although elements of history are always taken up, but only if they serve the band's vision. Only the Swedish lullaby "Kristallen Denfina" and the Scottish Gaelic lullaby "Quiet Lands" are based on traditional melodies. As for the lyrics, however, traditional verses in Latin, French, or German, as well as Celtic magic formulas, are often incorporated into the songs.
