Delight in the German Kidney Dagger with Leather Sheath, 15th Century.

German kidney dagger with leather sheath, 15th century

A 15th-century German original served as the model for this beautiful late medieval dagger. This special type of dagger, called a kidney dagger or testicle dagger (English bollock dagger ), owes its unusual name to the characteristic shape of its handle, which ends at the guard with two striking spherical or ovoid protuberances.

This reproduction has a blunt, single-edged steel blade that tapers evenly from the guard to a sharp point. The octagonal handle is carved from a single piece of wood, and the flat steel pommel is decorated with a decorative brass plate.

The scope of delivery includes a hand-dyed, vegetable-tanned leather sheath with a brass chape and belt loop.

This dagger is designed as a collector's item or decorative object.

Details:

- Blade material: steel (not stainless), blunt edge, sharp point

- Handle material: wooden handle, steel guard and pommel, brass pommel cap
- Total length: approx. 46cm

- Blade length: approx. 31.5 cm

- Weight: approx. 500 g (approx. 600 g with case)

- Sheath made of vegetable tanned leather with brass bezel and belt loop

The above specifications may vary slightly from copy to copy.

The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend regular maintenance of the blade, for example with Ballistol, a universal oil ideal for preserving steel products.

Since wood is a natural product, variations in color and/or grain are quite normal. Therefore, no two handles of this dagger are alike, and the images above are for illustrative purposes only.
