Gift Short Kidney Dagger with Leather Sheath.
Short kidney dagger with leather sheath
The term kidney dagger refers to a dagger with a straight, double-edged blade that tapers from the hilt to the point. The wooden handle has a crossguard with two spherical or egg-shaped protrusions on the sides. Because of their similar shape, this dagger variant was named the kidney dagger or testicle dagger (colloquially known as balls ). Hence, the original name in England was ballock dagger or bollock dagger .
This replica of an Ulfberth is very similar to this late medieval melee weapon. The handle is carved from a single piece of wood, and the sheath is made of solid cowhide. The carbon steel blade is unsharpened.
