Gift Discus Dagger, 15th Century, With Leather Sheath.
Discus dagger, 15th century, with leather sheath
The name discus dagger refers to the round, plate-like guard and the disc-shaped pommel of this late medieval melee weapon. It was often used in conjunction with a fist shield, the buckler . The mostly narrow, but pointed and strong blades were ideal for piercing chain mail and plate armor.
This highly authentic replica of a 15th-century Primus Arms discus dagger is based on an original now on display at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, England.
The dagger has a massive wooden base, a handle with steel fittings, and a very sturdy cowhide sheath with a stitched belt loop. The blade is unsharpened.
