Discover Viking Drinking Horn with Stand

Viking drinking horn with brass fittings and stand - not food safe

The drinking horn, usually made from cattle or goat horn, was a popular drinking vessel in many cultures and eras and was particularly important in ceremonies. It remained in use until the early modern period, especially in the Germanic areas of Europe. It was especially popular in Scandinavia during the early Middle Ages. The drinking horn is mentioned in both the Prose Edda and the Song Edda.

Although Viking Age horn fragments are rarely found in archaeological excavations, the number of surviving mouth plates and metal drinking horn tips suggests that their use was much more widespread than the findings of actual horns suggest.

The drinking horn offered here is handmade from cattle horn and polished on the outside for a smooth, shiny surface. It's decorated with a brass rim and tip and comes with a black-painted metal stand with non-slip rubber feet.

Whether for celebratory rituals or lavish banquets, this real eye-catcher will make any medieval or Viking-era setting feel even more authentic. The horn is not only ideal for reenactments but is also highly decorative in the modern home and makes a great gift idea.

Please note that the inside of the horn is not food-safe. To fully enjoy your favorite beverage, you may consider painting or sealing it. For example, using melted beeswax is a traditional sealing method.

Drinking horns are not dishwasher-safe and should be thoroughly cleaned with warm water and a soft cloth before first (and after each) use. To protect the material from damage, harsh cleaning agents should be avoided at all costs.
