Discover Viking Drinking Horn With Stand
Viking Drinking Horn with Brass Fittings and Stand - Not Food Safe
The drinking horn, usually made from the horn of a cattle or goat, was a popular drinking vessel in many cultures and eras and was particularly important in ceremonies. It remained in use until the early modern period, especially in the Germanic areas of Europe. It was especially popular in Scandinavia in the early Middle Ages. The drinking horn is mentioned in both the Prose Edda and the Song Edda.
Although fragments of Viking Age horns are rarely found in archaeological excavations, the number of mouth plates and metal drinking horn tips that have survived suggests that their use was much more widespread than finds of actual horns suggest.

The drinking horn offered here is handcrafted from cattle horn and polished on the outside to a smooth, shiny surface. It is decorated with a brass rim and tip and comes with a black painted metal stand with non-slip rubber feet.
Whether for celebratory rituals or lavish banquets, this real eye-catcher will make any medieval or Viking-era setting look even more authentic. The horn is not only ideal for reenactments, but is also highly decorative in the modern home and can be a great gift idea.
Please note that the inside of the horn is not food-safely sealed. To fully enjoy your favorite honey wine/mead (or your favorite beer), you may consider painting or sealing. For example, using melted beeswax is a traditional sealing method.
Drinking horns cannot be washed in the dishwasher and should be thoroughly cleaned with warm water and a soft cloth before the first (and after each) use. To protect the material from damage, aggressive cleaning agents should be avoided at all costs.
